The Pelton Wheel was invented by Lester Pelton and Patented in 1880. They were large and Cumbersome and turned slow. We have improved them to turn more than twice the speed of the Older Wheels and still deliver the same Power. This wheel essentially depends on the impact of moving, water upon curved Buckets on the rim of the wheel. The Pelton wheel is used wherever there exists a high head of water 10’ feet (3 meters) to 5000’ feet or more. The wheels speeds can be from 200RPM TO OVER 5000RPM DEPENDING ON HEAD AND SIZE OF WHEEL.

         It works as follows: Water is taken from a high head through a pressure pipeline called a (Penstock) with one or more narrow nozzles at the bottom impugning (SQUIRTING) jets of water into the Buckets on the rim of the wheel. The water is forced under its own pressure through the proper size nozzle to form a high Velocity free jet of water, which is directed in to the buckets. As a result 80 to 90% of the energy of the jet can be absorbed by the wheel. One to 4 Nozzles or jets can be used per wheel, and 2 or more wheels can be used on the same shaft to save buying a larger more expensive wheel.
As with all other the types of Turbines, there is no “Standard Pelton Wheel”. There are many different size wheels & NOZZLES to suit differing conditions and eliminate the need for Gears. The Pelton is only useful in hilly or mountainous Country. We have other turbines available that will work with only 1 ½ to 2 meters of head of Water falling in a ditch or Creek.

         We manufacture Pelton Wheels in sizes that will deliver from 200 watts 12 volt DC current for Charging Batteries, to 5,000 horse Power or about 2,500,000 WATTS AC CURRENT at High Voltage for HOMESTEADS, COMMUNITIES or to Co Generating with the Power Company’s. 120 and 240 volts at 60 cycles is standard.

Many times a Generator can be Direct coupled to the Turbine shaft if speed is Right. Most small Generators turn 1800 RPM but Large generates can found at Lower speeds. V Belts and Pulleys can be used to get Proper speed where needed.

Battery systems with Inverters can be used to convert 12 VOLTS TO the standard 120V or 240 Volts alternating current systems.

         I personally know of many used turbines that have been purchased by people trying to save money and found to their dismay they had made dreadful mistakes. The Merchants who sell them know-nothing about turbines. Even Turbines and Generators in Good Condition were made for a Certain Location, a given head and flow, and one in a hundred will usually work in an in efficient way at another site, the rest are useless for your job. About 5% could be reworked to give some power. Why take a chance?

         One is that the pipeline can be tapped and water drawn off under pressure for agriculture (SPRINKLERS) or domestic purposes the second advantage is water under pressure for fighting fire as a fire extinguisher should the need arise.
